Book: Soul of a Rose

Description
Since Rosemary Musachio was twelve, she has written poetry. Since she cannot verbalize what she thinks and feels, poetry has been a fantastic outlet of expression. It has allowed her to express love, sorrow, admiration, desire for liberation and many more sentiments. Her poetry has touched people’s hearts and opened their minds.
Using a headpointer on a keyboard to compose each poem, she divided Soul of a Rose into six themes: Faces, Celebration of Life, Sentiments in Play, Thoughts in Kneeling, Souls of Animals, and Nature’s Songs. The poems in each section verbally paint a part of life. Although many of them are about Rosemary’s experiences and feelings, they will resonate with you in one way or another.
Her poems are written from different points of view, not just her own: from a proud father, from a grieving wife, from a lonely sailor. The poetic styles also fluctuate from free verse and lyric to elegies and off villanelle. The book has a little of everything for everyone. Illustrations for many of the poems by Colleen Butcher make them come to life.
Poetry is a puzzle of expression. We poets enjoy piecing together images and rhymes to complete a puzzle of our experiences, of our feelings. Trying to make the pieces fit challenges and liberates us, unleashing the creativity that builds up inside us. As we add each allusion, each alliteration to the puzzle, it becomes a recognizable picture. It may not be the most beautiful, yet it is the perfect representation of our momentary selves. Soul of A Rose is such poetry.
